I picked this hike because I didn't have the opportunity to do it with the club last year. I'm guessing that Richard O'Neill must have led this hike at one time since this was truly a "Richard Hike". Up hill both ways even though it was a shuttle hike.
There were 23 trusting souls who made the trek. The sun was out all day, just beautiful. Only problem, it was out on the other side of the river, on the river view trail and we were in the shade all day. It may sound like whining but it really was a great day and a lot of good calorie burning in readiness for turkey day. This is a challenging 9 mile seemingly uphill hike with gorgeous views of the North Umpqua.
Rick Sohn led some of us on an impromptu lesson on fungi, quite interesting. There were plenty of specimens of all shapes, colors, and sizes. Lunch for some was with a hidden waterfall, and others just stopped along the trail, too hungry to wait.
A good time for all. Enjoy the pictures.
