Dread and Terror Segment of the North Umpqua Trail - September 13, 2014

Seventeen people started out from Lemolo Lake on the North Umpqua Trail, headed to the Hot Springs trailhead a mere 13 miles away. Mostly downhill, no not really, more like up and down but always within sound of the river, and usually within sight also. This truly is a beautiful section of the N.U.T. shady but still quite warm.
We encountered only a few hikers and some trail runners enjoying the sights and sounds. Also a mad group of hornets or wasps, didn't want to hang around and find out which, only knew they were really mad and were stinging hikers who lingered. Stupid wasps making a home in the middle of the trail!!!
This was a long day not only due to the length of the hike, but also because of the need for a shuttle to retrieve cars left up at Lemolo. Finally got back to Roseburg about 7:15 pm, a good time was had by all the long hikers.
